Our days of Ramayana 📃 by Uruj Shahid

In the mid 80s, there were no televisions in everyone's homes, but in one house, people used to gather to watch their favorite programs, then whether it was a Hindu or a Muslim house, there was no difference . When the serial Ramayan serial by Ramanand Sagar started on our black & white TV on Doordarshan channel on 25 January 1987, it was as if we all became part of Ram Raj for a few hours. We were a Muslim family and our neighbors were mostly from the Hindu family. In our colony, many of those Hindu families used to come to our house to watch the Ramayan serial on TV and on the day this serial was broadcast , in our house too we were quickly disposed of all work so that we all could see Ramayan together.
Our family had watched the entire Ramayan and but when this serial was completed, we were also very sad that it will no longer air on Doordarshan channel .
I remember at that time, on the cover of our school copies, there were also pictures of Arun Govil and Deepika Chitnis, which became Ram and Sita in the Ramayan serial. This was the time when Lord Rama's fame was at its peak and it was very much liked among all religions. Then we also came in the 90s when Lal Krishan Advani made Hindutva agenda fiery by launching a rath yatra among Hindus . In 1992, when Hindu ' kar Sewak ' were gathering in Ayodhya to demolish the Babri Masjid, it was only then that the echo of the Jai Shri Ram slogan was heard everywhere.
Before 6 December 1992, when the Babri Masjid was demolished by a public mob then our family was living alone in the colony among hundred Hindu families without any fear.
Because the Hindu families who had seen Ramayan serial while sitting at our house gave assurance to our Muslim family, their priority will be our safety first if any situation worsens and some even said that you have any fear.  You come to our house .
And we too believed his words at that time because there was no communication of hate in their minds , like today's people have been filled with hatred minds, maybe there was no internet at that time and there was no team of hate TV news channels but only one Doordarshan . There was a channel which had news for a few minutes in Morning , Afternoon and Evening which was read very politely.
From the point of view of a Muslim, Shri Ram is such a king who spent fourteen years in the jungle with his newly married wife and younger brother to fulfill his father's words without any desire for power or royalty and glory.
Shri Ram is for us an ideal king, a noble son and a man who loved his people.  Shri Ram proved how the father's word is fulfilled without questioning it and the public is thought to be good by not pursuing the fascination of power .  A ruler like the great Shri Rama and whom present generation is getting involved in the work of the opposite, without adopting the real decent and promising character.
